Why Choose Wood Tilt & Turn Windows?
Energy Efficient
- Triple seals for superior thermal efficiency.
- Primary seal for blocking all weather and wind, reduces thermal transfer and sound
transmittance.
- Exterior seal protects primary seal from weather and debris, reduces air flow to
a minimum, and controls sound movement.
- Interior seal traps air and noise between primary seal and interior of home for highest
performance.
- Triple pane glass, higher rating of energy efficiency than double pane and provides
a quieter, more comfortable indoor atmosphere with a much lower risk of condensation.
- 78mm thick timber frame, (3-1/16”) lowest thermal transfer of other window materials
such as aluminum or PVC.
- Durable dowel construction techniques provide a solid and long lasting product.
All Timber Windows Offer Better Long-Term Value
- Timber windows are expected to have a life span of over 60 years with proper maintenance,
at least twice that of PVC windows in all studies.
- All windows require maintenance regardless of material in order to achieve maximum
life span.
- Environmentally friendly, renewable product, and lowest embodied energy rating.
- Negative global warming potential, meaning that over their 60+ year life they actually
reduce the amount of CO² in the atmosphere.
- Aesthetically pleasing, enhances the appearance and value of your home with larger
uninterrupted views.
Simple Operation
- Single handle controls the full operation of the window.
- Closed position incorporates multiple locking pins around the perimeter for improved
sealing, especially from winds, and superior security that other windows can’t offer.
- Tilt position provides sufficient draft-free ventilation and worry free rain protection
if left open.
- Turn position swings the window open inward, like a door, for ease of cleaning both
sides and can be used also as an egress window.
Cutting Edge Cabinetry & Woodworking Glazing Standards
- Neat® naturally clean exterior glass helps keep windows cleaner
- Endur IG™ warm edge spacers reduces thermal transfer and increases CR.
- Multiple LoE coatings of the highest quality on specific sides of the triple pane
unit to fit your climate needs.
- Preserve™ protective window film protects glass inside and out during installation
and construction.
- Argon gas fill at a minimum of 90%. Capillary tubes may be required in some high
altitude areas.
- Many extra options available at request such as divided lites, tempering, laminating,
etc.
Energy Terminology
- LoE coatings reduce heat transfer through a window by limiting the amount of radiant
energy they emit.
- U-Factor is the rating given to a window based on how much heat loss it allows. A
lower value is better. Refer to total window U-Factor when comparing, as shown below.
- Visible Transmittance (VT) is a measure of how much light passes through a window.
A higher number equals more natural light. Compare COG (center of glass) specifications
for this value.
- Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) is the fraction of incident solar radiation admitted
through a window, both directly transmitted and that is absorbed and re-radiated
inward. The lower a window’s solar heat gain coefficient, the less solar heat it
transmits.
- Shading Coefficient (SC) is the ratio of solar heat gain through a window to the
same of a single light of 1/8” clear glass under the same conditions. A lower SC
indicates lower solar heat gain.
- Condensation Resistance (CR) measures how well a window can resist the formation
of condensation. A higher number is better at resisting the formation of condensation.
Cutting Edge Cabinetry & Woodworking Window Ratings
Based on standard testing window size of 600mm x 1500mm (23.62” x 59.06”) using our
standard LoE coating configuration.
Warranty - some exclusions apply, ask about the details.
- 5 yrs on complete window unit, including finish.
- 10 yrs on hardware and gaskets.
- 20 yrs on sealed insulated glazing unit.
- Ask about maintenance plans for finish and hardware longevity. Please visit our Exterior
Finish Systems page for more information about the exceptional finishes we use, their
estimated longevity, and how to maintain them.

Extra Large Moulding
This is a special purpose shutter that Cutting Edge Cabinetry & Woodworking built
for a ventilation fan with exterior locking bolts. This is an example of a custom
solution, as you may have a special custom need for a window or shutter. Traditional
shutter operation and latching would be achieved from the inside.
CECW IV 78 mm All Timber Thermal Transfer Model
Made in Graham County, Kansas!
Options - Visit our Resources page for more options such as timber choices, finish
systems and colors, and window hardware features and options.
- Easy to install/remove when needed, FlexScreen easily snaps into place from the inside
with no fasteners and does not obstruct the view. Several mesh choices are available.
- Exterior Functioning Shutters
- Louvered - Controls light entering a window, which can be a window with high exposure
to the sun or perhaps a bedroom window that faces a bright street light at night.
Some weather protection is achieved with the louvers, such as blocking rain and sunlight
and reducing wind load.
- Fixed - Louvers are non-adjustable blocking most light, but allowing for air to pass.
- Adjustable - Louvers can be tilted to preferred angle to control light entering window.
- Paneled - Shutter louvers are replaced with solid panels, such as a door would have.
This provides complete weather protection, along with blocking all light. Shutter
would have to be in the open position for air ventilation.
- Exterior Aluminum Cladding
- Reduces maintenance requirements by protecting the wood finish from the harmful sun
rays and weather elements.
- Breathable system held away from wood surface for ventilation and drainage to prevent
rot and decay. Cladding will expand and contract at much different rates than wood,
which is compensated for with this European engineered system.
- Same great features and able to Tilt & Turn.
